Are you fat? Oh, I know, that's a politically incorrect question. Are you weight challenged? Let's face the facts: Obesity is out of control in the U.S.A. and in nearly every other developed country. If you're fat then you know it so let's get straight to the point...
Diets suck and you've never managed to stay on one, right? Me neither. The words "rice" and "cakes" should never be used in the same sentence. I agree. Magic pills aren't and water fasts are out of the question.
So what in the heck are we "big boned" people supposed to be able to eat that doesn't make us feel like we are being punished and doesn't leave us gnawing on chicken bones that we find in the office wastebasket?
The answer might surprise you
You need to INCREASE your protein and fat intake. That's right. You need to EAT MORE FAT while reducing the amount of carbohydrates that you eat. Sound silly? I thought so too. After all, how can you reduce fat by eating more fat? That sounds as insane as turing your car INTO a skid to break out of a skid. But anyone who has ever driven on ice knows that it works, and so does eating more fat. Here's why...
Your body stores three types of potential body fat:
- Alcohol
- Carbohydrates
- Fat
Alcohol is the easiest fat for your body to burn. It's gone soon after you ingest it (although the effects of consuming too much alcohol may linger for a few days).
Carbohydrates, both simple and complex, are the next fuel that is burned in your body's furnace. This means that not all carbohydrates are totally bad for you. Some are far better than others. The question is: Which ones? (I'll show you how to find out in a minute.)
And then there's fat. Fat is very hard for your body to burn so it doesn't even bother trying until it has consumed all of the easy fuel and it's left wondering "what's to eat"? Then, and only then, does your body go after your fat stores. Well, wouldn't it be nice if you could trick your body into consuming that fat instead of simply letting it build and make you, well, fatter? (You can and I know how to do it.)
You see, your body is a complex machine and, like all machines, it needs fuel to operate. And, like all machines, it needs the right fuel, in the right proportions, in order to function properly. If you put leaded fuel into an unleaded engine, the engine burns out. If you plug a 110 volt appliance into a 240 volt outlet, the motor burns out. Well, that's what happens when you feed your body the wrong fuel (but I'll show you how to fix that).
So by now, if you've been paying attention, you've reached the conclusion that I'm talking about introducing a low carbohydrate diet into your life. Wrong! I hate diets and I know that you do too. Diets mean depravation and starvation. I don't want you to deprive yourself nor do I want you to starve. So let's remove the word diet from the conversation and focus on what I am really saying...
You can lose fat by teaching your body to burn different fuel than it is used to burning and you don't have to starve yourself to do it!
All you need to do is learn how. Sure, "low carbs" is the buzzword of the day. Every one is saying it, and all of T.V.'s talking heads are pushing it, and even the fast food restaurants are claiming to offer it. But which low carb plan do you follow? Atkins, South Beach, Protein Power, Somersizing, The Carbohydrate Addict’s Diet, The Inuit-Style Meat-only Diet, some other diet? Arrgh! There is just too much information out there to process.
Every one of these plans claim to be the best. You have different friends making different claims and your common sense tells you that everyone can't be right. If you're like me (um, big boned and hating it), then you're probably ready to forget the whole thing and go to Baskin Robbins® and eat all 31 damn flavors in one sitting!
Why isn't there a definitive source that let's you compare all of the low carb meals plans side by side?
Well, there is and it's called, simply enough, The Low Carb Book. Now, if all the The Low Carb Book did was let you compare all of the popular low carb meals plans to each other so you could decide if any of them were for you, then this book would be a bargain at twice the price. After all, where else can you get the complete inside scoop presented to you in a 100% unbiased manner? Nowhere that I know of.
You see, the author of The Low Carb Book has no secret agenda. He isn't being paid by anyone to tout one particular plan over another. He doesn't get any royalty payments for the hundreds of "try my diet" fad-of-the-day books. He's simply a disinterested and objective third party who feels that it's time someone put all of the facts on the table so that those of us who were struggling with losing weight (and keeping it off once we lost it) would have somewhere to go to find out the truth.
When you read The Low Carb Book you get 81 pages of the absolute truth!
- You learn which carbohydrates are better than others.
